The service
8th Chair is a publication built one issue at a time. Each issue poses one question to seven experts, each from a different field, who answer with a credo: a short, deliberate answer in their own words, published once and final. Members compete for an eighth seat by submitting their own credo, and the membership votes to decide which one is elevated to the eighth chair. Votes are public records. By using 8th Chair, you agree to these terms.
Your content
You retain ownership of your credos. By submitting a credo, you grant 8th Chair a non-exclusive, worldwide license to display your published credos on the platform permanently. This license survives account deletion: if you delete your account, your unpublished submissions are removed, but a credo that has already been published remains part of the permanent issue record in anonymized form, with your name detached and the body preserved.
Conduct
Credos must be authentic and your own. Automated, AI-generated, or spam submissions may be removed without notice. We reserve the right to moderate content that violates these standards.
Account termination
You may delete your account at any time from your dashboard. Deletion removes your profile and any credo still competing that has not been published; published credos remain in anonymized form as described above. We may also remove content or suspend accounts that violate these terms.
Disclaimers
8th Chair is provided as-is during beta. We make no guarantees about uptime, data availability, or continued operation of the service. Use at your own discretion.
