DMCA Notice
Last updated: 2 November 2026
8th Chair publishes credos written and submitted by the people who sign them. If you believe something published here infringes a copyright you hold, tell us and we will act on a valid notice promptly.
How to send a takedown notice
Email eighthchair@gmail.com with the subject line “DMCA Notice” and include all of the following:
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or someone authorized to act for them
- A description of the copyrighted work you claim is infringed
- The exact URL on this site where the material appears
- Your name, address, phone number, and email address
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the above is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on their behalf
A notice missing any of these may take longer to act on, or may not qualify under 17 U.S.C. § 512.
What happens next
On a valid notice, we remove or restrict access to the material identified and notify the person who submitted it. Published credos are otherwise permanent; a valid DMCA notice is one of the few things that overrides that.
Counter-notification
If material you submitted was removed and you believe that was a mistake or misidentification, you can send a counter-notice to the same address with: your signature, identification of the material and where it appeared before removal, a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification, and your name, address, and phone number, plus a statement consenting to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your address (or, if outside the US, any judicial district where we may be found) and that you will accept service from the person who filed the original notice.
Repeat infringement
An account responsible for repeated, valid infringement claims may be suspended or removed.
